I for one have not, and never will!

It was a slap in the face of the Americans. The innocents. The Mothers. The Wives. The Daughters. The Sons. The Fathers. The Husbands. The Sisters and Brothers. They all died that day, just for showing up to work.

Our life, Liberty and Freedoms we so often take for granted. These things we so cherish were shaken to the very core this day.

As a former Active duty Marine Corps Staff Sergeant, and even today I would gladly stand next to my brother in arms to defend our great nation, again, against all enemies foreign and domestic to keep such a thing as this from happening again. Would You??

Yes, by God and all that is Holy, my fur is ruffled and will stay as such until we can catch each and every person that tried to destroy what no man, woman or child can physically touch. And that is what we hold so near and dear in our hearts. Our way of life, as Americans.

Where were you on that day?
I was at work, just came into my office building in Hoover, Al, when I happened to stop by the break room where the TV was playing the local news, when they stopped and started showing the live feed from Manhattan. I could have been pushed over by a feather. I stood there feeling so helpless, so angry, so mad that someone could do such a thing. It brought tears to my eyes and even now 5 years later it still does. Yes, believe it, a weeping Marine, for my heart was broken that day for travisty of what had happened had shaken me to my very soul with my beliefs of protecting the men, women and children of this great nation as was so inbred in me by my upbringing and my Drill Instructors. God, Corps and Country. That is all that has ever really mattered to me. How about you??
Major Pain, as I am certain of you reading this....I know you are not leaving just as of yet, but I want to publicly say this, go with God as you cross the pond to carry on our cause. Be Well, Be Safe, God Speed and return home to us soon.
To all those that have come back from fighting our enemies, I say very loudly "WELCOME HOME!".
I have said my piece, which is by all means not all of it. I shall step down now and let a few others say what they have to. If "ANYONE" cares to discuss this further about my feelings fo God, Corps and Country...I shall be out back behind the wood shed....of course my .45 will already be aimed at your sorry butt!
SEMPER FIDELIS.....Always Faithful
I, too, took 911 with a shock and hatred for all those responsible for the disaster. I wanted our nation to respond at once---turn Afgh. to glass, delete all The Bin Ladens from the face of the earth, etc., etc. I even had a forum with the format of 'Granny Goes To War', with all the rah, rah and "Yankee Doodle" music, plus the urgings to "go get them!"
Time passed, our country was busy--on the phone getting other countries to go along with us. Blair and Bush became the headlines. We talked a lot about being "with us or against us", but still no action. Soon the Laden family was safely escorted out of the country, with their fortunes intact. So much for hostages, eh?
Still and all, when the vote to go to war in Afgh. came up, I was STILL gung ho to 'gettum', though I was beginning to feel a bit uneasy in my tummy on how this was being carried on. With the war, the inevitable body bag count began. You do remember the fact that we never saw it when our brave youngsters were brought home, don't you? It wouldn't do to let the whole country know that the price of revenge was dear for some of the families of our own.
And still Bin Laden galloped around, while the innocents on BOTH sides died and suffered.
Then, suddenly, Afgh. wasn't so important anymore! Bin Laden was 'probably dead', from kidney or liver disease, wasn't he? So now, what to do, what to do?
Well, follow the OIL! No need for me to tell the lies and political connivery that got us into IRAQ. If anyone is not aware of that by now, they DESERVE what they are getting---however, our brave forces don't.
So, that's what I dare to say, Chris. I weep every time I see or hear about another young person sacrificed to the issue of Iraq. We have gone far beyond getting our 'enemies'. I'm afraid we are being hoodwinked into losing sight of just who our 'enemies' are. Was it Pogo who said, "We has found the enemies, and they is US"?
On this day of mourning and appreciation of all of those who were lost in 9-11, and for those who have been lost on foreign soil since, I want to thank ALL of our Armed Forces for their sacrifices. I just want to remind Americans that these huge losses may not have been necessary--if we had found the 'enemy', early on.
You can unload that 45 now, Chris, and show me the outhouse. I have other plans for my sorry butt. 8-)
My heart still breaks because too many of us have allowed this to become a political issue. It has minimized the devastation wrought that day. I am old enough to remember what happened during Viet Nam when thousands of our armed servicemen went and came home vilified because they fought believing they did so to protect our American way of life. Before I came here to your blog, I left this greeting to both you and Belle in hers.
Semper Fi, Mr. Yankee, Semper Fi.
I deeply appreciate the fact that you had stopped by to see my writings.
But I do wonder however. Who is Chris?
I will admit, I too, was very ready indeed to just go and turn Afghanastan into one very large pile of glass. And must also admit I still am. Only a terrorist would use the tactics that they are using. There are many things I firmly believe in and one of such, is as it is written....in a book I shall not name..."An eye for an eye" and yes, I know the rest of it as well. So dear lady, please do not preach or dare to teach me the ugly truths of them. Been there, done that and even brought home a hell of alot more than just the damn t-shirt. Unless you have seen what my eyes have, up close and personal...do not dare to explain to me what it feels like to be called a "Baby killer" or anything else that dreadful period of our existence brought to me or us!
Thank you for stopping by and reading my rantings.
Yes, there are some very ugly pictures out there from that day. But I felt compelled to try and remind everyone of that day. Not saying that their mind was fading or anything else, but just restirring the pot so to speak.
I do love you so....
Your Marine.."Sarge"...Your Yankee
Thank you for stopping by and reading my writings.
I only have one thing to say to you dear lady.....remember this and remember it well....at St. Peters side you will find a Marine standing tall gaurding the gates of heaven as he/she did gaurding the gates of America against all who dared to shame her!
Semper Fidelis......
I will not pretend to know what was felt there by you and others that were nearby on such a day as that. I am so very glad for you, that you had not lost anyone at the WTC.
I can only try to explain what I felt so far away. I was deeply saddened, then madder than I believe I have ever been in my life, then totally overcome by the hurt that it had caused me deep down inside to my very soul. So as to make a 42 year old Marine stand and cry like a baby at what he was watching. So helpless, so totally lost for what to do on this day. God, I pray there is never another like it on our soil.
Thank You for stopping by.
Semper Fidelis.....
You may be right. When I wrote my comments, er, replies last night. I was already a bit tired and and do owe them both, her and Sherryscherries, an apology. I had gotten my dander up a bit and was, well, blowing off steam....
Love ya' always....
I don't know why you feel you owe me an apology. You put into words what I have been feeling these last few days. Thank you, and I will be quoting you in my post for today. The post may cause me a lot of grief, but I need to stand up for what I believe in.

However, JOHN, heheheh, you don't owe me any apology. I said what I said because I TRULY believe that the war in IRAQ is a futile endeavor that is only costing more American lives than we can afford to lose. I said nothing and meant nothing about 'killing babies'---unless you mean our 18 year old servicemen, who are babies in my 70 year old eyes.
I said nothing about turning the other cheek. I did not diminish my pride in our troops one iota. I simply brought forth some facts that are IMO, proof that the TRUE fight against terrorism was dropped and the battle for oil took its place. We were not attacked by Iraq, there were no WMD to be found, and no matter how horrible Sadam may be, that was the battle that the Iraqies needed to fight---we were busy and pressed enough fighting our own.
I don't expect everyone or even anyone to agree with me. However, I know in my heart that this country has been led into one of the biggest mistakes we have ever made. And it doesn't look like we're getting out of it for the next couple of years, since our President says that we are in a battle that will take 100 years to resolve. That's a long way from the 'in & out' story we got when we barged into Iraq. The fact is that the middle east storm has been going on since biblical times, and it was pure stupidity to get involved with it.
I salute all of you marines and all other service persons who have served and suffered. This mess is not your fault. There is nothing you can do to turn it around. We all know where the buck really stops, if we just consider it a bit.
Now I'll go back to my knitting. 8-)
